ABA therapy funded through RCEB.

Animate Behavior is a vendored ABA provider with the Regional Center of the East Bay. If your family works with RCEB — or thinks your child might qualify — here's how funded ABA services work, in plain language.

What RCEB is, in plain language

The Regional Center of the East Bay is one of California's 21 regional centers, created by the Lanterman Act to coordinate and fund services for people with developmental disabilities — including autism. RCEB serves families across Alameda and Contra Costa counties. For eligible children, RCEB can fund ABA services at no cost to your family, or coordinate with your insurance.

Who's eligible

Children under 3

May qualify through Early Start, California's early-intervention program — often the fastest path to services for toddlers, and a diagnosis isn't always required to begin.

Ages 3 and up

May qualify under the Lanterman Act with a substantial developmental disability — including autism — that began before age 18.

Not sure either way?

Reach out — we'll point you in the right direction, including how to request an intake with RCEB.

04

Services begin

In-home across the East Bay or at our Emeryville Early Learner Center, with ongoing progress reports to keep funding in place.

RCEB questions, answered

Does RCEB pay for ABA therapy? +
For eligible clients, yes — RCEB can fund ABA directly or coordinate with your insurance. Your service coordinator confirms what applies to your family.
My child is under 3. Where do we start? +
Ask RCEB about Early Start, or contact us and we'll explain how the referral works. Early intervention is one of the best-supported findings in ABA research — starting young matters.
We have both RCEB and insurance. Which pays? +
It depends on your situation — generally insurance is primary and RCEB can fill gaps. We work with both and will help you sort it out so services aren't delayed.
Can we choose Animate as our provider? +
Yes. Tell your service coordinator you'd like Animate Behavior in Emeryville. We're happy to talk with them directly.
What does it cost us? +
RCEB-funded services typically come at no cost to families. We'll confirm the details for your situation before anything begins.
