In-network · Contra Costa Health Plan

ABA therapy for CCHP families.

Animate Behavior is in-network with Contra Costa Health Plan. If your child is covered by CCHP — including Medi-Cal managed care — we'll handle the authorization process end to end and bring BCBA-led ABA to your home in Contra Costa County.

How CCHP ABA coverage works

CCHP is Contra Costa County's own health plan, and it covers ABA therapy for children with autism when it's medically necessary. Two things are required before services start: a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation showing ABA is appropriate, and a referral from a licensed physician or psychologist. CCHP then issues a prior authorization — and that's where we come in.

Step by step with CCHP

01

Start with your child's doctor

Share your concerns and ask about an autism evaluation. If your child already has a diagnosis, ask for an ABA referral to Animate Behavior.

02

Prior authorization

CCHP's authorization team reviews the referral and evaluation. We handle the provider side of the paperwork end to end.

03

BCBA assessment

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst completes an initial assessment and designs your child's individualized treatment plan.

04

Services begin — usually in-home

Most of our CCHP families are in Concord and central Contra Costa, where in-home ABA fits real life: mealtimes, routines, siblings.

Local matters here

CCHP families are our neighbors — Concord, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, Walnut Creek, and beyond. Our clinicians work in Contra Costa every day, our team is bilingual (English/Spanish), and we know how CCHP's authorization process actually runs — because we run it with families every week. See our Concord page for how in-home services work, or what the BCBA assessment involves.

CCHP questions, answered

Does CCHP cover ABA therapy? +
Yes — with prior authorization, for children with autism when ABA is medically necessary. For Medi-Cal members under 21, behavioral health treatment is a covered benefit. We'll verify your child's exact coverage during intake.
What do I need before services can start? +
A diagnostic evaluation and a referral from a licensed physician or psychologist, followed by CCHP's prior authorization. If you don't have these yet, reach out anyway — we'll walk you through the order of operations.
Do you come to Concord? +
Yes. In-home ABA across Concord and Contra Costa County is core to what we do — and a center-based block at our Emeryville location can be part of the plan if it fits your child's goals.
Is there a cost to us? +
It depends on your specific CCHP plan; many families have little or no out-of-pocket cost. We'll confirm your benefits before services begin — no surprises.
Do you offer services in Spanish? +
Sí. Our clinicians deliver care in both English and Spanish, and our intake team can help in Spanish too. Visita nuestra página en español para más información.
